Home/School Agreement
Prior to admission all parents and students sign our home/school agreement. This details our shared expectations and is the foundation of the important partnership between home and school.
Parents are a key part of our success. We provide a Parent Planner so that all parents have a clear sense of our ethos and can trace the weekly workings of the school and their child. Successful links exist with parents, our Parent Teacher Groups thrive and attendance at meetings is exceptionally high. We expect parents to support their children and a central aspect of that is supporting the ethos of the school. We expect parents to support teachers and to uphold school’s discipline and authority. We believe firmly that children need to see unity and to know boundaries. We expect parents to ensure that their children are: always in full uniform; well-groomed; well-equipped and that they have resources at home: a quiet place, a desk, access to a computer. Whilst we have a very clear approach to discipline and will enforce it, we believe that it is a parent’s duty to ensure that their children are well-mannered, well-spoken and understand the rules of how to be a polite and co-operative citizen. School’s primary function is to educate and whilst sympathetic to the demands of modern family life our focus is on the academic, accompanied of course by appropriate pastoral care. School, however, is no substitute for family life and we expect children’s behaviour to be, in large measure, a family responsibility. Parent Days provide opportunity for parents to discuss their child’s progress with their teachers and we expect all parents to make every effort to attend.
‘Parents and neighbouring primary schools regard the school highly for the impact it has had on the students’ achievements.’ OfSTED
