SWINE FLU
Swine Flu. Guidance to parents May 2009
A notice to parents about the Swine Flu Virus
from AMANDA REDFEARN, Senior Deputy Head with responsibility for Health and Safety and PAUL EAKINS, Director of Premises with responsibility for Health and Safety
On the 29th April, the World Health Organisation decided that the Swine Flu Virus is considered to be a potential global pandemic. It is still not a pandemic. Schools have been sent guidance from the Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) and we are adhering to this guidance and that of the Local Authority in full. This guidance is available on the DCSF website. This advises parents to ensure that your child’s school has up to date contact details for you and to encourage your child to:
· Wash their hands using soap and water at regular intervals;
· Cover their mouth when coughing or sneezing (it is helpful to provide your child with a supply of tissues to bring to school). We have made them available in all classrooms;
· Throw dirty tissues away quickly.
We are taking extra/additional precautions with anti-bacterial cleaning.
Clearly, informing parents of any developments that may affect our school community and ensuring that we remain fully informed and prepared are absolute priorities for us.
The following leaflet has been produced by the UK governments and provides helpful guidance:
