'Drama' is derived from a Greek word meaning 'action' and the Drama & Theatre Studies GCE at Holland Park follows this definition closely, with 60% of the course assessment based on practical performance. A range of skills are developed, and over the two years you will 'be' an actor, director, writer and theatre critic. The AS year involves practical and written exploration of the plays, 'A Doll's House', and 'Metamorphosis'; examination of a monologue, and performance in a teacher-directed play. In the A2 year a unique and original piece of theatre is devised, and there is a written examination on a Shakespearean play, and Aristophanes, 'Lysistrata'. This exciting course develops independent, critical and creative minds, and confident, collaborative performers.
