Information and Communication Technology (ICT) describes the study, design and development of computer-based information systems. It deals with the use of computers and computer software to convert, store, protect and process data. The course at Holland Park provides a balance between the theoretical and practical components of ICT. Students complete a coursework component and an exam each year. The coursework demands students to create a system for a designated user, taking into account their particular needs. At AS, the coursework involves the practical use of ICT to create solutions and at A2, students complete a project based around a system designed for a specific user. The more theoretical aspects of the course address how ICT is used in business and how it can be used to improve effectiveness.
