Music at Holland Park exposes students to a variety of genres, including the western classical tradition and jazz. In their own performing and composing, students are given a considerable amount of freedom in choosing the style or repertoire. Students are taught to extend their skills, knowledge and understanding needed to communicate through music and to take part in making music. There is significant focus on appreciating the diverse and dynamic heritage of music, promoting spiritual and cultural development. At Holland Park, we aim to encourage life-long learning and provide access to music-related and other careers. We greatly value the interdependence of musical skills, knowledge and understanding and the links between the activities of performing, composing and appraising music.
