Attendance
We encourage parents to support the school by informing us about any absence so that it can be authorised. We regard good attendance as a parental, as well as school, responsibility.
The school uses an electronic system of registration and registers attendance in all lessons. Students arriving late to school are registered via a fingerprint recognition system on entry at the main gate, or at the Attendance Office. There is first day call back for absence, together with a text message service for parents.
Parents are strongly discouraged from taking children on holiday in the school term. Permission will only be granted where there are special circumstances. To apply, please contact the Attendance Officer and request a Leave of Absence Form.
This academic year attendance for the whole school was in excess of 94%. This is above the national average for secondary schools.
For 2009/2010, every child has been set a minimum attendance target of 94%. We ask parents to ensure that their child exceeds this.
