Attendance
We encourage parents to support the school by informing us about any absence so that it can be authorised. We regard good attendance as a parental, as well as school, responsibility.
The school uses an electronic system of registration and registers attendance in lessons. Students arriving late to school are registered via a fingerprint recognition system on entry at the main gate, or at the Attendance Office. There is first day call back for absence, together with a text message service for parents.
Parents are strongly discouraged from taking children on holiday in the school term. Permission will only be granted in extreme cases. To apply, please contact your Year Leader, and request a Holiday Form from the school's Attendance Officer, Ms Breda Wise. This academic year attendance for the whole school was in excess of 94%. This is above the national average for secondary schools.
For 2008/2009, every child has been set a minimum attendance target of 94%. We ask parents to ensure that their child exceeds this.
