The purpose of the Classical Civilisations curriculum is to: provide students with a broad and enriching understanding of the ancient world – particularly the civilisations of Greece and Rome – and to foster skills in critical thinking, cultural literacy, and historical inquiry.
Students in Years 7 to 9 are given are introduction to Classical Civilisations through the carousel course for Year 7 and one lesson a week in Years 8 and 9.
lassical Civilisations GCSE provides learners with a broad, coherent and rewarding study of the culture of the classical world. It offers learners the opportunity to study elements of the literature and visual / material culture of the classical world, and acquire an understanding their social, historical and cultural contexts. Classical Civilisations focuses on the civilisations of Greece and Rome, and is a wide-ranging subject involving the study of literature, art, artefacts, archaeological sites, and the ancient historical context.
