Information for Holland Park Parents & Carers

By popular demand from our families, Parents' Day is back for 2025!

Following feedback from parents about wanting more opportunities to speak to teachers, we are re-introducing Parents' Days this year. These events run in addition to Parents' Evenings and provide a further opportunity for parents to meet and discuss their child's progress with subject specialists. Parents' Days operate much the same as parents' evenings,  except they are open to ALL year groups (Years 7 - 13), and (as implied by the name) they run throughout the day. The key differences are:

  • Appointments are available from 08:30 until 16:00 on the day;
  • Appointments are 5 minutes in length with a compulsory 5 minute travel-time break between appointments as appointments are held in teachers' classrooms rather than in the Main Hall;
  • There is a limit of 5 meetings per child for Parents' Days to ensure that most parents can secure at least a couple of appointments;
  • There are no classes this day, but students are expected to accompany their parents in school uniform to all appointments. Students will be at home before/ after appointments have finished and are expected to complete homework.

Year 11 parents who do not manage to secure appointments with all teachers on Thursday 4th December are welcome to book an appointment or two on Thursday 11th December to ensure they have met with all their child's teachers. Unfortunately there are never enough appointments for all parents (even with a full day of appointments at 5 minutes duration, the maximum number of meetings a teacher can hold is 76 appointments). Appointments are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis and once they are gone, they are gone.

Bookings for Parents' Day will open on will open on Thursday 20th November at 7pm and the booking system will remain open until Tuesday 9th  December at 09:00.

Bookings can be made through SchoolCloud here: https://hollandpark1.schoolcloud.co.uk/

Home-School Communicaton - Information for parents

Effective communication between school and home is essential to enable students to thrive and achieve their very best.

The school reception is the communication hub of the school, as such, our receptionists Ms Laali and Ms Keane work extremely hard to support parents, teachers and students with the administrative organisation of our school, including responding to email enquiries sent to info@hollandparkschool.co.uk.

We aim to respond to all email enquiries within two working days wherever possible during term time.

What can parents do to help?

  • Regularly check your child’s account to ensure there are funds available to purchase
    food at break and lunch.
  • Ensure your child has all the equipment, workbooks, uniform and kit they need for
    each day at school.
  • Email the school in advance with details of external appointments and write a note in
    your child’s planner to help them remember the appointment.
  • Discuss afterschool arrangements with your child so you know where they will be and
    what time they will get home.

Thank you in advance for your support. Together we can all help create an effective communication service which benefits the entire school community.

The staff at Holland Park School continuously strive to ensure that this is an environment where children thrive, learn and enjoy, and we want you to enjoy the journey with us. We welcome your views and ideas, messages of praise or thanks to staff are also always welcome.

Share your views with us by emailing info@hollandparkschool.co.uk.
