Admission

Ensuring that you select the correct institution to continue your education is fundamental to your academic development and should be carefully considered. To be successful at AS and A2, students need a bank of excellent results at GCSE. Access to our Sixth Form will be available to students who have a minimum of 7 grade A*- Bs at GCSE including English and Mathematics although we request that students achieve a grade A* or A at GCSE in the subject that they wish to study at AS and A2.  Students will, however, be considered on an individual basis. Students wishing to continue their studies at Holland Park Sixth Form will undoubtedly be planning to proceed to university. It is therefore important to ensure that you choose the appropriate AS and A2 courses that provide you with the most realistic chance of success and future progression to university.

It is essential that students connect AS/A2 choices with potential University courses. Guidance in choosing courses can be found by completing: the Stamford Test which is located in the student section of the UCAS website (www.ucas.ac.uk).  Students should also use the Course Search section of the UCAS website to investigate the Entry Profiles of potential courses that they might wish to apply for. Entry Profiles provide specific information regarding the entry requirements for university courses and should be carefully examined to ensure that the AS courses that you select will provide a progression onto the courses that students may wish to apply for at university. For example from research students might find that if they wish to study Medicine at any university they will be in a position of comparable strength if they choose to study Chemistry, Physics, Biology and Maths.

The application process for entry into Holland Park Sixth Form seeks to mirror the UCAS application process. To request an application form contact: sixthform@hollandpark.rbkc.sch.uk remembering to add name and personal email address. On receipt of an email an application form will be sent. Applicants should take some time to ensure that they have accurately completed all sections of the application form, including their personal details, course options for AS/A2 study, information regarding their current education, write a personal statement and include details of a referee. The form should be returned via email to the email address above.  It is competitive and places on some key courses are limited. All applications must be received by Monday 21st November 2011 at the latest. Once an application has been received, external applicants will be invited to attend an interview. Offers will be emailed to applicants following the successful completion of this interview. You should consult the Course Entry Requirements for 2012-2013 for guidance with what your offer might include.

The Sixth Form is an exciting phase of study and we very much look forward to hearing from you.
