Art and Design is concerned with the transmission and transformation of cultures. At Holland Park, we place enormous emphasis on students learning to appreciate, value and be tolerant of a range of contemporary and historical images. This allows students to understand their own productions in a variety of contexts. Students are required to develop individual work plans to personalise their learning as well as relate their interests and needs to preferred patterns of working.
Students develop their skills using a range of styles, techniques, media and new technologies. A range of enrichment programmes are in place for students of Art and Design including trips to museums and galleries, as well as seminars in film, photography and life drawing. Throughout the course, individuals are nurtured to develop confidence and to take intellectual and intuitive risks in the cause of innovation and creativity.
