Mathematics evolved
from counting, calculation, measurement and the study of the shapes and
motions of physical objects. The applications of these ideas are used
in many fields including natural science, engineering, medicine and
economics. At Holland Park, throughout the AS and A2 course, we study
various different applications of mathematics. Core Mathematics makes up
the majority of the course and includes algebra and functions,
coordinate geometry, sequences and series, differentiation, integration,
trigonometry and vectors. We also study mechanics, which involves
trying to develop mathematical models in mechanics, vectors and
kinematics of a moving particle. Finally, in Statistics we study
probability, the representation and summary of data, correlation and
regression, variables and normal distributions.
This may
be a valuable course for you if you are interested in reading any of the
following at University:
Accountancy, Physics, Medicine,
Engineering, Surveying, Architecture.
